“Matthew and the other guys did a very nice job installing aftermarket suspension on a brand new WRX. They were very patient and meticulous in getting it done right. There was a small hiccup when one of the parts did …”
Michael D., Google review

Every bump makes a clunk. The car floats over dips, dives when you brake, or wanders on the freeway. Worn suspension doesn't just feel bad. It wears out tires and makes the car harder to control.

Turbo Lab does steering and suspension repair in Orem on daily drivers, trucks, and performance cars. We find the worn part, show it to you, and fix what needs fixing.

Clunks, pulling, or a bouncy ride?

Have it checked if you notice:

  • A clunk or knock over bumps
  • Bouncing after a dip, or the nose diving when you brake
  • The car pulls or wanders on the freeway
  • Steering that feels loose or has play in it
  • Tires wearing on the inside or outside edge
  • One corner sitting lower than the others

Steering and Suspension Repair

We lift the car and check every part that holds the wheels: shocks and struts, springs, control arms and bushings, ball joints, sway bar links, and tie rods. We show you what's worn and how worn it is. Some parts are safety items that can't wait. Others can. We tell you which is which.

Steering problems like a heavy wheel, a whine when you turn, or play in the wheel can come from the rack, the pump, or worn tie rod ends. We track down the cause before we replace anything.

Shock and strut replacement

Shocks and struts keep the tires on the road. When they wear out, the car bounces, leans, and takes longer to stop. We replace them in pairs so both sides match, and we check the mounts and springs while we're there.

Coilover Installation

Coilovers let you set the ride height and stiffness of your car. We install them, set the ride height and preload, and set them up for how you drive: street, canyon, or track. A car that's been lowered needs an alignment after, so the tires don't wear out early. Coilovers pair well with our other performance upgrades.

Wheel alignment

An alignment sets the angles of your wheels so the car drives straight and the tires wear evenly. You need one after suspension parts are replaced, after lowering, or if the car pulls. We send alignments out to an alignment shop.

Potholes and salt: suspension wear in Orem

Utah winters are rough on suspension. Freeze and thaw open potholes all over Utah County every spring, and a hard hit can bend parts or knock the alignment out. Canyon roads, dirt roads, and trips to the trailhead add more wear. So does salt, which rusts springs and hardware.

If you hit a big pothole and the steering wheel is now crooked, get it checked.

We show you the worn parts

We fix daily drivers and we set up builds for canyon roads and track days, so we can feel when a car is right and when it isn't. We show you the worn parts, quote in writing, and don't sell you parts you don't need. Our work is covered by our warranty.

Suspension repair questions

How much does suspension repair cost?

It depends on the car and the parts. Most suspension repairs are done the same day, and we quote them in writing after we look.

What's that clunk when I go over bumps?

Most often a worn sway bar link, bushing, ball joint, or strut mount. We find which one it is on a test drive and on the lift.

Do I need an alignment after suspension work?

Often, yes. Replacing struts, control arms, or tie rods, or lowering the car, changes the wheel angles. An alignment keeps the tires from wearing out early.

Will coilovers make my car ride rough?

They can if they're set too stiff. Good coilovers set up for the street can ride well. We set them up for how you actually drive.

Can you install coilovers I already bought?

Yes. We install nearly any brand. Our shop rate is $175 an hour, and our warranty doesn't cover work done with parts you bring.
