★★★★★

“I’ve had an excellent experience with Turbo Lab. If you need vehicle repairs, dyno tuning, or performance upgrades, this is the place to go. Their communication was outstanding, and they gave honest advice on the most …”
William L., Google review

You bought the car because it was fun. Now you want more. Maybe you already added an intake and a tune from the internet, and it feels about the same. That happens a lot. Parts get bought one at a time, and they never work together.

Turbo Lab has done performance upgrades in Orem since 1999. We plan the whole build with you, install it here, and prove it on our AWD Dynojet. You see the real number, not a claim on a box.

Does your build need a plan?

Most upgrade problems start the same way. A part goes on without the parts around it. Watch for these signs:

  • You added parts, but the car doesn't feel faster
  • The check engine light came on after a mod
  • It runs rich, smells like fuel, or hesitates on a pull
  • The clutch slips now that it makes more power
  • It runs hot on a long climb up the canyon

Turbo Kit Installation

A turbo is the best way to add power at our altitude. It packs more air into the engine, so it wins back the power the thin air takes away. We do turbo kit installation with bolt-on kits for popular cars, and custom systems when no kit fits. Every turbo car gets a custom tune on the dyno before it goes home.

Supercharger Installation

A supercharger gives you power the moment you touch the gas. There's no wait for boost. It's a great fit for trucks, muscle cars, and daily drivers that want smooth power. Our supercharger installation includes the tune and a dyno check.

Performance Exhaust Installation

An exhaust changes how your car sounds and how it breathes. We do performance exhaust installation with bolt-on systems and custom pipes built on your car. We help you pick the sound you want and skip the highway drone you don't.

ECU Tuning

The engine computer decides how much fuel, timing, and boost your engine gets. ECU tuning rewrites those settings for your parts, your fuel, and our altitude. We tune on the dyno, where we can watch the engine under full load and keep it safe.

Customer-Supplied Parts Installation

Already bought your parts? Bring them in. We do customer-supplied parts installation for intakes, intercoolers, coilovers, exhausts, and more. We check the parts before we start, and we tell you if something else needs to change to make them work. Our shop rate is $175 an hour.

Dyno Tuning, Engine Builds, and Fabrication

Every upgrade ends on the dyno. Our dyno tuning is done on an all-wheel-drive Dynojet, so you see real numbers, not guesses. When the goal is past what a stock engine can take, a performance engine build makes it strong enough for the boost. And when the part you need doesn't exist, our welding and fabrication shop builds it, from turbo piping and brackets to race prep and off-road builds.

Built for Orem's 4,700 feet and 91-octane gas

At 4,700 feet, an engine without boost makes about 14% less power here than at sea level. How we tune for the altitude.

Tunes written for sea level don't know that. Neither do tunes written for 93-octane fuel, when most Utah stations top out at 91. We tune for the air and the gas you actually have.

Utah County also requires emissions testing on most cars, so ask us what a part means for your test before you buy it. Customers drive in from Layton to St. George, and from Idaho, Nevada, and Wyoming.

Every upgrade tested on our dyno

We walk you through every step of your build. We have our own AWD Dynojet, so every upgrade is tested, not guessed. We quote the whole build in writing, including the fuel, clutch, and cooling parts a lot of shops leave out. And we've been doing this on Center Street since 1999. We see more turbo Subarus than anything else, then GM, Ford, and Dodge, then Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Mazda.

Performance upgrades questions

How much do performance upgrades cost?

It depends on the car and the goal. A tune costs far less than a turbo build. We start with a baseline pull and give you a written quote for the whole build, so there are no surprises. A custom dyno tune alone is $600 to $1,000, depending on the car, the ECU, the parts, and the type of tune.

Will upgrades void my factory warranty?

Not by themselves. Under federal law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act), the maker has to show an aftermarket part caused the problem before it can deny a claim. A tuned engine can still make a claim harder, so we tell you what a mod may put at risk before you decide.

Will my car still pass emissions in Utah County?

Most street cars in Utah County need to pass emissions testing, and some parts are sold for off-road use only. Ask us about a specific part before you buy it, and we'll tell you what it means for your test.

How much power will I gain?

It depends on the car, the parts, and the fuel. We measure on the dyno before and after, so you see the real gain.

Can I bring my own parts?

Yes. We check the parts before we start, and our shop rate is $175 an hour. Our warranty doesn't cover work done with parts you bring, and the part itself is covered by the seller.

Where your build is headed

Where a lot of builds start

  • Parts bought one at a time that don't quite work together
  • An e-tune you're not sure about
  • No idea what the car actually makes

Where yours ends up

  • One plan for the whole build, and we walk you through it
  • A custom tune for your parts, our 4,700 feet, and 91-octane gas
  • A dyno sheet with the before and after numbers

Skip the plan and it's easy to end up with a check engine light, a slipping clutch, or a tune that hurts the engine.
