The part you need doesn't exist. Or it does, but it doesn't fit your car. Maybe a bracket cracked, a mount broke, or the intercooler pipe from a kit hits the frame.

Turbo Lab does welding and fabrication in Orem for daily drivers, trucks, and project cars. We've worked on Center Street since 1999. We measure your car, build the part to fit it, and check the fit before it goes home. All of our welding and fab work is done in-house, by our own techs.

Do you need a part made, not bought?

Fab work is the answer when a part has to be made, not bought. You might need it if:

  • A bracket, mount, or tab cracked or broke off
  • An aftermarket part won't fit your car without changes
  • A turbo or intercooler setup needs piping that no one sells
  • A pipe rubs, rattles, or hits the frame
  • An exhaust leaks, or a hanger broke
  • A truck or off-road rig needs a repair or a stronger part

Custom Brackets and Mounts

A lot of builds stall on one small part, like a bracket for a catch can, an oil cooler, or a battery. Engine swaps need motor mounts and transmission mounts that fit the new engine to the old car. We plan the bracket around your car, then cut it, bend it, and weld it. Then we check that it clears everything around it. We weld steel, aluminum, stainless, and chromoly, with TIG or MIG to suit the part.

Why not weld it yourself? A weld can look fine on top and still be weak inside. On a motor mount, a weak weld cracks from engine shake and heat.

Intercooler and Exhaust Piping

A turbo needs pipes to carry air from the turbo to the intercooler, then on to the engine. When there's no kit for your car, or you moved something, those pipes have to be made. We build intercooler piping and charge pipes to fit, with the bends and couplers placed so nothing blows off under boost. We also build custom downpipes and exhaust systems. Aluminum and stainless welding is done here in our shop. See our turbo kit installation and performance exhaust installation pages.

Repairs to Cracked or Broken Parts

Exhaust flanges rust through, brackets break from shake, and aluminum parts crack from heat. A good weld repair often costs less than a new part. Sometimes it's the only choice, because the part isn't made anymore. Some parts, like steering parts and cracked wheels, should be replaced, not welded. We'll tell you straight.

Truck Fabrication and Repair

We work on a lot of trucks, like Ford F-Series, Chevy Silverados, and Ram pickups. Bumpers, mounts, brackets, and exhaust rust, bend, and break. We repair them or build stronger ones. We don't work on trailers.

Auto Machine Shop Work

Some jobs need a lathe, not a welder. We do light machine work in-house, like a one-off spacer for a suspension setup. Bigger machine work, like the engine work in an engine rebuild, goes to a machine shop we trust. They have CNC machines and precision equipment made for that job.

Race Preparation

Race preparation at Turbo Lab starts with our nut and bolt service. We go through the whole suspension and torque every nut and bolt, so nothing works loose on track. It pairs well with dyno tuning and brake work.

Off-Road Builds

Off-road builds cover trucks, Jeeps, UTVs, and side-by-sides. We install nearly any lift or suspension brand, fix what broke on the trail, and build the brackets and mounts a build needs. We also tune Polaris and Can-Am side-by-sides.

What Orem's roads and weekend trips break

Road salt in winter eats exhaust pipes, hangers, and brackets from the bottom up. By spring, a lot of cars have a rusty hanger that let go. A weld repair can often save the rest of the system.

People here tow boats to Utah Lake, climb Provo Canyon and American Fork Canyon, and head to the dunes on weekends. Those trips break parts. Turbo builds are common here too, because a turbo wins back the power our 4,700 foot altitude takes away. Many need custom piping.

Built to live with heat, boost, and shake

We also tune, build engines, and fix cars every day. So we build every pipe and mount to live with heat, boost, and shake. We have our own AWD Dynojet to test a build under load. You get a written quote before we cut anything, and we've been on Center Street since 1999.

Welding and fabrication questions

Can you weld aluminum and stainless?

Yes. We weld aluminum, stainless, chromoly, and steel, with TIG or MIG. All of it is done in-house.

How much does custom fabrication cost?

It depends on the part, the material, and the time. A simple bracket costs far less than a full set of intercooler pipes. Our shop rate for fab work is $175 an hour, plus materials. You get a written quote before we start.

Is it better to repair a broken part or replace it?

Many brackets, flanges, and mounts can be welded and will hold. Safety parts like steering parts and cracked wheels should be replaced. We tell you which is which.

Do you build roll cages?

No. We don't build roll cages. We still do custom brackets, piping, exhaust, and repairs.

How long does a fab job take?

A quick fab job, like a bracket or a small repair, is often done the same day. Bigger custom work takes longer, and we give you a time with the quote.
